About Us

Studies and media reports indicate the reality that there has been a detrimental change in the pattern of children’s growth in the City of Chicago due to violence, poverty and the decline in family structures. In 2016, there were a total of 764 people that were murdered in Chicago.  Of that number, 325 were under the age of 17. According to Chicago Center for Youth Violence Prevention, homicide is the third leading cause of death among young people between the ages of 10 to 24. That is a large number of  children that are being lost to violence and not being able to reach their full potential due to the lack of positive role models and outlets that can redirect their paths for successful outcomes.

The Chicago Tribune reported that in 2015, nearly 90,000 teens and young adults, between the ages 16 to 24, in Cook County and Chicago were not employed and were out of school. To combat, and reverse, this pattern, “Let's Emerge,” a non for profit organization created in 2017, is working to develop partnerships with schools, churches and youth organizations around Chicago to implement proven programs and workshops that will inspire and motivate children to stay focused on their future. Research shows, that children that are mentored typically develop supportive relationships with adults and has been linked with positive outcomes, such as improved connection to school, lower dropout rates and higher academic achievement.  Also, through our arts and crafts workshops youth will participate in activities which include music, dance, theater, and visual arts.

We have outlined an aggressive plan to offer mentoring programs; arts and crafts workshops; fitness programs and more! Our focus area will be youth between the ages of 10 and 18 years of age.  This plan is detailed throughout our website. Our goal is to reach over 100 children each year through our programs and workshops.  The first step to reaching that goal and changing the path from failure to success for our children, is you!  Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help fund our programs and workshops and to engage over 20 volunteers in our first year.
